NATURAL PROGESTERONE

An important thing to look for when purchasing a good Progesterone Cream - if it does not state Progesterone Ph.Eur. USP JP, then it is NOT natural progesterone. It would be illegal to sell it as NATURAL PROGESTERONE otherwise.  Progesterone Ph.Eur. USP JP, a bio-identical progesterone, as is the case with NATPRO, it can only be bio-identical progesterone, it is about the molecular structure, not the nationality. In other words, it makes no difference if the progesterone comes from China, Russia or USA.

NOTE: The strength of progesterone creams vary from 1.5% to 10%. This means a 1.5% cream contains 15mg progesterone per gram (g) or millilitre (ml). A 10% cream contains 100mg per gram (g) or millilitre (ml). So dependant on the amount of progesterone required, the amount of cream must be taken into account. Natpro is a 3.3% cream, or contains 33.3mg per gram or ml. All information here is based on Natpro.

Natural progesterone can provide a safe, convenient remedy for a wide range of health problems. There are just as many misconceptions held about this critically important hormone by the medical professions, as there are by the rest of us. Many of the so called ‘modern’ diseases can be prevented or cured by progesterone therapy.

Many people think they are taking progesterone, when in fact it is progestin which is synthetic and found in Contraceptives and HRT, see here.

The "natural" hormone your body makes has a unique molecular structure.

What is progesterone?

If you are concerned about what Natural Progesterone can do, please watch this video by DR HOTZE. He talks about the role and importance of progesterone in the body and the many advantages of using PROGESTERONE CREAM

First of all it is a hormone that has been around for over 500 million years. This makes it the oldest hormone, but was only discovered in 1939.

Why is this important? Because it shows how vital it is to the lives of a great many creatures on our planet.

It is essential to all vertebrates - fishes, reptiles, birds and mammals, including humans. It has countless functions in both sexes and all ages by regulating blood sugar, developing intelligence, building bones, brain activity and many more.  Our bodies make it all the time.

In the higher animals it is involved in reproduction but, not being exclusively a sex hormone, it does not impart any secondary sexual characteristics.

It is converted by the adrenal glands into other hormones such as:

  • cortisone
  • estrogen
  • testosterone
  • and others

There is much confusion in the minds of both the public and the professionals between progesterone on the one hand, and the progestins or progestogens and "yam extracts" on the other.

This is what a progestin molecule looks like. It has an altered molecular structure:

This is what a progesterone molecule looks like:

Progesterone is made in your body from cholesterol, which is processed as follows:

  • first, your body turns the cholesterol into pregnenolone
  • pregnenolone is then converted to progesterone
  • your body then makes a cascade of other hormones that it needs from the progesterone - these include the estrogens and testosterone amongst others

See Steriodogenic Pathways to find out where our hormones start and where they land up.

It is vital to understand that:

Progesterone is an essential raw material from which your body makes many of the other hormones vital for good health.

This simple fact, helps us to understand and appreciate just how wide ranging the effects of a progesterone deficiency can be. This is why progesterone therapy can be effective in treating such a wide range of health problems.

The key message in answering the question - What is Progesterone is simply this:

Natural Progesterone - just as your body makes it, is a unique substance with unique properties that cannot be faked, and are essential to good health and to life itself

Where does Progesterone come from?

Many people are confused about how progesterone is made and where it comes from. The confusion arises because many websites and blogs provide misinformation, some say that it is made from yam, while others say that it is made from soy.

Progesterone is made from various plant sterols, all plants have sterols which are often called phytosterols. Plants such as the soy bean, Dioscorea species of yams, fenugreek, sisal, calabar bean, some lilies, yucca, some solanum species, maize and many more contain phytosterols. Some of which are stigmasterol, diosgenin, beta-sitosterol, campesterol, hecogenin, sarsasapogenin, solasodine. As these plant sterols have a similar molecular structure to cholesterol, they are used as starting points for the synthesis of progesterone. So the synthesis ends with a progesterone molecule, or molecules. It is only progesterone and can only be progesterone. If it was contaminated with anything else, be it yam, soy or any other plant, it would not be legal to call it progesterone. The bottom line is, it does not matter what plant is used for synthesising progesterone, the end result is progesterone, nothing more and nothing less.

Natural Progesterone helps with the following:

It is also an excellent anti-inflammatory - see here.

Please note that a Vitamin D3 deficiency reduces the benefits of progesterone, it is vital that you have a test done.

Here is a short list of people who have benefited...
